i absolutely cannot see how a boat can be trimmed for optomim economy cruise without a flel flow gage. on my albin 28 a 100 rpm change can cost at least 1 gal per hour..
i set rpm with the throttle and let fuel flow stabalize and then trim for best (gps) speed...
speed over f/f provodes nmi/gal..in my case it looks like 2900/9gph/15.0 kts...
...
when i see similar boats for sale with claims on the order of 18.0 kts at 6gph, but no fuel flow meter in the electronics section , i have to believe that at best, the number is a 'start up to tie up' figure. the seller is just deviding gallons consumed by the figure on his hour meter, not 'actual fuel comsumption' at cruise power.
