My port Twin Disc MG5114A transmission is throwing an oil temperature warning as soon as I start the engine. The guage is bouncing from normal to high to low repeatedly. It stops and remains normal for a while, then starts misbehaving again for a minute or two, then goes back to normal. It occurs in neutral and at idle to 1900 RPMs while in gear.

I'm guessing it's a sensor, but wanted to get the groups' feedback as a sanity check.

Thanks in advance for any insight you may have...

Yes wiggle the wiring ,particularly near the gauge , gauge sender and harness connectors to see if the gauge needle or reading respond directly , checking for loose wires, connector pins or chafes.

If not , you could check with Twin-disc to see what voltages and ohms resistance ranges apply to trans oil temp senders used . May be easier to just swap senders ( or gaues if necessary ) between P & S.

RESOLVED - Finally made it to the boat last week. I got under the helm and made sure all the wiring was snug at the back of the gauges.

Also disconnected the wires coming from the sensor going into the Electronic Control Module and cleaned what I could with a q-tip. The connector is about 8 inches from the transmission sensor.

THANK YOU for the help...
