Unusual USCG rescue in the gulf.

You sure don't want to be in the water next to a shrimper. In years past we often pulled up and traded beer for bait from the by-catch. Everything that swims seems to know the dinner is on the table when they dump their by-catch.

assume he lost his leg?
No status update yet, but I would think so if not his life. Being 'eaten' is just plain unimaginable scary to me. When we spear fished the gulf there always seemed to be a no-vis condition at our safety stop. Because of that we would leave our stringers attached to the anchor line to pull up after we got back onboard.

I am not a big fan of discovering first hand that we are not the top of the food chain...

I can imagine going overboard must have been like swimming in an all you can eat buffet, and you're the appetizer.

and you're the slowest swimmer in the pool with diners who like big meaty chunks....

Yup...me going in the water is ringing the dinner bell for the larger carnivores to come to the all you can eat buffet!

Having been in the water when a goliath grouper was running from a shark below me, I know full well how disadvantaged in the water we are. We could easily hear the thump of its fins as it RAN from the shark.
And that is where our dive started LOL. Surreal to say the least.

Just don't swim with lawyers.
