upgrading Clarion stereo

I upgraded my system (sold the boat last month!) piece by piece. I added a nice amp, two more speakers in the rear of the cockpit, and upgraded the two speakers in the radar arch. It was nothing high dollar, but it really paid dividends in sound.

Here's the big one - it is VERY easy to cheaply add bluetooth. Do you have easy access to the back of the head unit? If so, you can just get a rechargeable bluetooth receiver. The one I used lasted easily 8-10 hours and recharged quickly via a standard mirco USD cable. I am an Android phone user, so it's just the same cord. You just get a 2 into 1 adapter for one of the extra RCA outputs. You would want the 3.5 mm female end. I never had an issue on the 43' streaming from any part of the boat.

Oh, and receivers tend to be tiny - fit in the palm of your hand tiny. Spent about $25. Use them at home too.

not to hijack the thread but, just wanted to tell you I have ALWAYS ADMIRED your boat.

GREAT DESIGN !

Money sent along with my address. Enjoy the weekend. Hy

Shipped. FYI - USPS didn't recognize zip code. At counter, they said zip code was different (just one of the digits). I assume it was just your typo, sent to zip code they provided. Hopefully it gets there!

Picked up radio at post office today after they neglected to deliver the package for two days because "The delivery driver had too many packages on his truck and didn't get to yours. His shift ends at 6:00." So much for the USPS. My father-in-law must be rolling over in his grave. He had joined the post office as a letter carrier after the war. Years later he retired as the assistant superintendent of the entire Brooklyn, NY, section of the post office. He would never have allowed such poor service. Anyhow, thanks again Ernesto for your generousity. I hope to install it soon and start listening to music once again as I fish, and maybe catch. Hy

Installed the radio this afternoon. After switching the wires to the new plug, I had all the connections made. The other plugs fit right in. The only problem I had was the actual securing of the radio to the cabin wall. Not having the installation manual, I had to play around with the possible ways to install until I figured out that the sides of the faceplate could be removed, revealing the mounting screws and holes.

The radio plays sweet music. Thank you,Ernesto! I was even able to receive stations I couldn't get on any other marine radio I've had. The Salsa music is an acquired taste, I guess. I did blast it at the dock just for the fun of it! Mission accomplished. Hy
