3birds, Hello, I sent you a response on the main board but here it is again. I had a 2007, 20 foot fast trac with the Merc multiport fuel injected V6. The boat ran great. Actually it ran just as fast on the top end and bottom end as several of my friends V8's in the 19 to 20 foot range. All of this with better gas milage. You have to remember a v8 weighs more.. I could easily get close to 50mph out of it. I think the v8 had just a little more out of the bottom but not much. Trust me we had several show downs and races on the lake. Not once did the v8 ever get away from me. I have also owned a 18foot with a inline 4. The boat was still fast on the top around 48mph. Hull design and weight are a major factor in top speed.
