What would you consider an acceptable amount of water in your stern drive?
I'm not really sure why they decided to take a gear box with spinning shafts and put it underwater for months at a time?
Mines and and 87' Alpha I blew the upper last season and that was rebuilt and lower checked out.
When drained my lube after about three month in the water I still got that mostly clean lube with a streak of that aqua colored hydrated oil.
I kick myself for not draining it into a clean open pan, but I let it go into my closed motor oil pan so I can't completely tell the ratio.
What do you guys see?
