i'm helping out a friend with a 460 sundancer (2000/2001 I think...)

water is coming in the forward bilge resulting in the Fwd Emergency Pump to cycle on and off. It took me a while to find the pump, hidden under the electric sofa/bed in midship SR. Water is coming from the top of the stringer on the stbd side... it's not pouring but it's a continuous wet line. it's not sea water (tastes fresh).

it's not from the fresh water system either since it was still coming in after the pumps were off for a day or so.

Doesn't seem to be the main sump, it's working fine although the carpet under the sump was a little wet, but it could have been from the AC condensate, since the pan looks dirty and a little too full.

doens't seem to come from the other side of the bulkhead, on the ER side, it's all dry.

One concern is that there is no access to any of the compartment under the cabin floor. it's all sealed with no access hatch whatsoever except the one above the bilge pump and under teh sofa. the bottom of the storage compartment on teh center line is carpeted and doens' t have any hatches. For all we know there could be water somewhere and we can't find it...

could be rain water although the boat appears dry, no sign of leaks anywhere...

i'm leaning towards AC condensate but how could we make sure there is no water accumulated under the plywood floors just outside of the stringer in the midship stateroom?

Pascal - You can go to the Sea Ray website and download a copy of the manual for that boat. That may provide you with some pictures to see what's around where the leak is or other access areas.

i thought about the water tank but the water comes from the top of the stringer by bulkhead, the water tank isa few inches back and doens' extend above the stringer, at least from what i can see...

i looked at the only parts diagrams... there is really nothing else there. the big unknown is what's lurking behind all these sealed compartments.

Pascal,
Depending on the year, the fresh water is distributed thru Whale plastic tubing of either 15mm or 22 MM (blue for cold and red for hot) with Whale snap in EZ connectors throughout. In some instances these fittings can become brittle or the internal o-ring in the connector goes away. Call 1-800-SRboats which takes you to the tech line. Have the serial number(SERY something) available. They've given me excellent information and you usually speak with someone who has particular knowledge in the model you're working on. They will know what's under what you can't see. Good luck!
Steve
