I used to work for Orangetown sewer dept. as an engineer when I first got out of college. "Chlorinated waste" when I worked there was essentially 2 guys throwing pool chlorine into the pit at the last pump station before it went out into the river.
My second day on the job there was a force main break on the mountain behind Piermont. I was handed a pair of big boots and sent out there with a crew to investigate. Walking in 10" of crap water is pretty nasty. I then went down to the pump station in south Nyack and watched 2 guys chlorinating with buckets of pool chemicals. The chlorine will kill some bacteria, but the solids and everything that chlorine won’t kill just heads right out. I constantly remind my kids to always swim with your mouth closed.
If they dont get off there high horses there are going to be alot more over there. A very large system and very old. Need lots of money to get the system updated.
