I've been thinking of you guys - sorry I've been AWOL so much of late, as my FB buddies know I'm pretty busy with work at our Chamber of Commerce here in southern Saratoga County. Our friend Mr. Vargo keeps me up to date on happenings back in the Hudson Valley though, hope a great boating season is shaping up on the lower Hudson
This Saturday, May 10, 2014, from 9AM-6PM, the annual Waterford RiverSpark Canal Fest will take place at the Waterford Harbor Visitors Center on the docks overlooking the spot where the Erie and Champlain waterways come together. I know many of you have passed through this way before, and if anybody is going to be in the area this weekend (or if you're planning a trip at any time during the year) please hit me up. My cell is 518-522-7251 and I'll be happy to help you plan your visit. If you are passing through in the car on the I-87 Northway you can also pick up information at the Exit 9 Rest Area Information Center. My staff runs that place 7 days per week during the summer, and even when its not staffed there is tons of literature to pick up.
In other news - the "backhouses" (as my dear friend and former Mechanicville Mayor Anthony Sylvester calls them, the rest of us call them Rest Rooms) are just about finished at the Mechanicville docks just a few miles north of Waterford. And thanks to Stewart's Shops there will be some really good lighting installed at that location soon as well. I'll post an update when its done - this represents real value for the cruising boater because its all free of charge! Max stay I think is 48 hours.
Now all I gotta do is get my own boats running right. Grrrrrrrr.........
