where is the best place to get information on wind and seas, small craft advisory's, for narragansett bay? I wish I had a heads up on how rough it was last Monday. Thanks.

Just about anywhere but NOAA radio. I like my local TV and radio stations.

I like wunderground dot com. It has local forcast for various towns in ri by zip code. It also has a link to marine forcasts for the bay, RI sound, and BI sound. If you have a smart phone to access web pages, you can also look at animated radar. Handy for telling if that dark cloud you see is just dark or an approaching line of thunder storms. You can also try www.co-ops.nos.noaa.gov/nbports/nbAllMET.html

That website has current wind speed for various parts of the bay. If the wind is up and against the tide, expect a chop!

One site that I've found to be pretty accurate is:

http://www.pdfamily.com/weather

On their top tool bar, hit "Nautical," then "Bouy Index" in the sub-column. You'll get realtime bouy reports (wind-speed and direction and gusts), wave conditions, air temp, water temp, barometric pressure and more. It covers much of the Northeast so you can follow improving or deteriorating conditions moving up the coast.

Thanx. I find them pretty accurate for up this way down thru the north shore of Massachusetts and can only guess that they're accurate elsewhere too. Comes up nicely on the Palm Treo so I frequently check that and Channel 5/Boston and Channel 6/Portland live radar and it's kept me out of trouble so far.
