Were thinking about it

Never owned or been on one but it sure is a beautiful boat. But, a 40' boat with gas engines? If it were me I'd go for deisel power for a boat that size. But that's just me.

Whatever though, it's a beautiful boat and, if you go with it, I'm sure you'll love it. I've owned 3 Carvers and loved each and every one. My current one I actually downsized to after the kids grew and the nest emptied. :)

I have a friend with the same boat. She runs out nicely with the 454 crusaders. But as a live aboard it might be small. I did live aboard a 34' Luhrs for a summer. I did fine but I was by myself. An aft cabin is probably a better choice as a live aboard. We have a 406 and when we spend a week on her we never feel like we are short on space.

Myself wife unit 2 kids and a dog live aboard a 44 aft Cabin for 3 months a year...Maybe stay onland 2 nights during this time..Personal experience, the AC gives us all a little space, my little one plays up on the bridge, I get the aft Dec. my wife usually has salon and my older daughter hangs in the front or aft stateroom. So with that said, I think the Aft Cabin gives you the most space.....

Look at the Carver 3607 or 3807 aft cabin models. Our 3807 has a huge salon and a dinette that we have on many occasions squeezed 6 people into

Amen to that. The 3807 feels like it has more space than my first house. It's really a roomy, well laid out boat. Personally though, I would still go for diesels instead of gas for a boat that size simply for the fuel burn and range. But, as I said, that's just me. :)

Either way good luck and keep us posted.

I looked up a couple of the Carver 3807 aft cabin...Very nice with lots more room...big difference in price for only one years difference...
97 grand Canadian for a 1989...and 130 grand Canadian for a 1990...
We are looking to live aboard and go south in the winter and back here in the summer...
The big retirement for the Admiral and myself comes next July...We hope to have everything in place by then with whatever boat we decide on...
I will keep our current boat for day trips while up here...

This has all has been in the works for 4 years now...4 years ago the real estate market was booming up here, so we sold our big house for top buck and moved into a very very small home...
It's now time to put everything in place....at least I hope it all goes as well as we have planned...
This is what we sold in the hopes of making our dream come true...it was far to large for 2 people...
