I was looking at the Fountains on Pier 57's website the other day and I came accross a picture of a yellow 42 lightening that had huge engines and #6 drives of course. But then I noticed what looks like about a foot of rubber hose clamped to a hollow fitting that goes through the horizontal piece that protrudes out above the propeller. there's one on each drive. What are these? My friend said they protect the drives from going under the dock when maneuvering, but it looks like they're rubber? Are these aererators (sp?) to help the props in some way?
