Before I buy an engine for my dingy I wanted to get the opinions from the Boatered community based on their experience.
I have a Mercury 240 Roll Up inflatable - slat flooring and no keel. Max weight is 900+lbs and capacity is 3 persons. It is rated for maximum 5hp engine.
For ease of use, portability & weight I was going to get a Merc 3.3 it weighs only 27lbs and i should be able to store it in my transom locker but before I do wanted to get some feedback from others who have a similar set up. Does a 3.3 have enough thrust to effectively move that size inflatable or do should I get the 5hp which weighs about 50lbs?
I know expecting to plane the boat is not even an option given the floor type, just want to make sure it will have enough power to get from shore to the boat at anchor or to tool around an anchorage even on a windy day.
