Whats better I-O VS Inboards for older searay

I have Quicksilver controls on my '89 300DA. I've never had a Merc I/O before so I have no prior experience with Quicksilver controls. What are the problems with them? I think mine are stiff, but that could just be cable age/lubrication. I'd be interested in what optional controls others have used and thecost/work need ed to convert.

Having just left a 34' with I/O's I can tell you I will seriously miss my IO performance and fuel efficiency.
What I won't miss is the maintenance.
It's definately a tough call.
If you are willing to deal with the maintenance then the I/O's are better, though I am not crazy about the twin alpha's either.

Although I would rather have Bravo (or even volvo!) drives, part of my purchase deal is that heis refurb-ing the drives and replacing the water pumps - so I'm not going to complain, I'll just live with them until it's time to get new ones or we are ready to trade up in boats.
