I'm shopping for boats again. Everything i've had prior has been I/O's but the next boat is going to be inboards. Size of boat will probably be in the 38-40' range (Silverton, Cruisers, or something similar in flybridge style). What size/make motor do you all think is the best set up for a boat this size? This would most likely be for gas, not diesel. I realize this is a very broad question and subject to much personal opinion. Primary concern to me is having enough power for handling the boat when full with guests, fuel, etc. and maximizing fuel efficiency.
I've got twin 5.7 volvo's in my 33' cruiser right now and it is a great set up!! I may miss the 47+ mph, though the added space is going to be very very nice.
