The horn on my 2001 Sea Ray 340 is not working.
Does anyone know where the horn is located on this particular boat?
Thanks

No idea where yours might be, but on my Trophy, the factory installed "beeper" was located at the hull joint, very near the bow, behind a 6 in oval slotted plastic cover. ( Really nasty OEM "horn", that never worked right. Replaced with a nice twin trumpet air horn. That worked nicely. )

That's how it is on our smaller SeaRay. In the deck edge, just above the hull joint, plastic grille. All it is, a Fiamm Car Horn.

$10 on Amazon, lasts 2-3 seasons. The assembly is Grille, Adapter Bracket, Cheap Horn, "Marine" Price Tag.

I found it. Now I have to find a similar horn that would fit in that little space.

Unless you are restoring to "original", I would suggest getting a "real noise maker". Those small horns won't even wake up the crew or disturb the fishing. While I suggest a true air horn(s) w/ compressor, the "electric versions" would be a substantial improvement.

Remember, the whole point of even having a horn is to be heard by a bridge tender a mile away, in an air-conditioned hut, or by another vessel in motion ( with all those noises involved ).

It is a safety issue, and louder is better. IMHO.

Looking that SFO bay is you homeport, if you are boating on the bay or even in San Pablo bay I would install something that could be heard in Lodi.

These horns are a joke, I don't know what these fracking builders are thinking especially on a 34ish footer which probably has an arch... no reason not to put a decent pair of horns on the arch

I agree on installing a pair of horns on the arch but would require new wiring.

No big deal there should be space in the arch and then access to run the wires to the helm

Could put a single Kahlenberg up there that'll split eardrums and you'd only need to run some microline down to the compressor. Can mount that wherever.

Why play around. You will never ask "Where is the horn" with a set of these.

Even the single one on my boats at work will actually cause pain about 5 feet below and a few feet forward of it. When I'm wearing my helmet I take it off so I can cover my ears before hitting the button. If only more people understood that five or more short and rapid blasts does NOT mean "please stop directly in front of me in a narrow channel just before a critical turn while I have a tow up short"...

I replaced the tiny, tinny horn on my former boat, a Chaparral, with a nice set of dual trumpets. Just disconnect the wire on your horn button which runs to your present horn. Run a wire from the button to your new horns and a ground wire from the horns to a ground. Simple job and you're much safer. Hy
