I have a 1988 Regal Ambassador 233xl. I just purchased it and under the seat was a brand new 17 pitch prop. What was on it was a 19 pitch not in good shape. My question is what size and pitch should be on it?

It really depends on many factors such as boat loading, engine condition, bottom cleanliness and other things. But the key stat is what is your engine RPM at WOT.

I would put the good 17" prop and do a WOT test and with that number and engine size you can determine what size prop would be better.

With my last boat, I also carried two different props. My every day prop as well as my waterski prop.
Sounds like the same on your boat.
Like Rommer says, you really have to find which prop puts you in the proper Max RPM range at WOT.
