Why are Toons so popular on lakes

It's the knuckleheads that come from behind on your side and are so close that the only thing you can do is turn into their wake, right behind their "surfer". Not safe for either of us.

We have a small local lake that is great for bass fishing or just wandering around a bit. Get a couple of wakeboard boats out there and before long it is ruined for everyone else.

I recently looked at a tri-toon with the 450 hp Yamaha. The deck was not plywood but honeycomb graphite composite. It had a vacu-flush drop down lav. Very strong and capable boat.

With regard to wake boats, I am amazed the powers that regulate lakes have not banned them for all the shore damage they do.

Wake Boats SUCK ASS!!! Best thing that ever happened to Lake Powell was the loss of the mid lake marina. They have to stay close to each end of the lake and I can find solitude in the mid lake canyons :)

I was involved in an insurance settlement a couple years ago due to damage done to a couple of my friends cruisers......

I remember watching the movie "The Great Outdoors".

Famous Quote:

Roman: you want to cruise the the lake in a pontoon boat? Or do you wanna ride the waves in a jet boat?
Ben: jet boat. Sorry Dad.

I think there was also a line about taking Omaha Beach in a pontoon boat.

Now Sea-Doo has adapted the Rotax jet drive to pontoons. I have a friend that owns a dealership, I took a look at these the other day. Poly hull, an "adaptable deck system", handle bar steering, jet drive with stop paddles. Interesting to say the least.

What is this?

"Commodity surcharge starting at $1,400 will apply."

I asked that too. It is an adjustment for inflation of materials which they believe is not permanent because so much oil based materials are involved.

I think they charge extra because they can. Supply and demand. Just like buying a new car. The car companies are not happy with dealers charging over MSRP.

Last July we tried to buy two new Sea Doo Sparks for the boat. Called the local dealer I had bought PWCs from and after a month they called me back saying they had finally received some. When I asked the price, the guy said $13000. I told him I d be right over then he said … each.

That was double MSRP…. Told him he could keep them.

I hear you.... 'been shopping for a new golf cart with lithium batteries (twin packs). Dealers here are over msrp. I'm talking EZGO's for 23k! WTF?
