I have a friend in the process of "restoring" a 1968 Harbor Master HB. The boat was free as long as he paid to haul it from the marina where was stored. This should give some insight into the overall condition.
He has bought a Jabsco 18590 Series macerator, self priming within 5' and 12 gpm.
The marcerator is 2' from the head, but 25' from the main holding tank
The hose from marcerator to tank is 1" i.d.
Will the marcerator pump the waste that far, considering where the hose meets the tank he has a 30" rise.

I'm not sure what your friend is trying to do. Heads don't need inline macerator pumps to work.

What type of head is in this houseboat? Is it a marine head if so do you know the model? It is never a good idea to have an uphill run (but 30"?) to the holding tank the 25' hose will hold slurry will smell in short order. I have a feeling the macerator will burn out. The head should have it's own chopper/macerator then he might want to think about a SeaLand Bellows type pump they won't self destruct and with that long a run and the chance of standing slurry in the hose to the holding tank consider using schedule 40 PVC pipe to reduce permiation.

The head is a brand-new Sealand with integral 9.5 holding tank, the marcerator's purpose is to pump it empty the small holding tank and pump it to the main holding tank. He won't have dock-side pumpout and is planning to live-aboard. The marina is under contract with a guy who does boat-side pump-out (as much as I love boating, I don't think that would be a fun occupation)
Trust me when I tell you ANYONE with a lick of boating sense would have NEVER undertaken this project!
