Do you guys just put rv antifreeze in the head and pump it out to winterize the macerator? I have a porta potti type head with a macerator to pump out. thanks

I pump out first. Then pour a couple of gallons down the head and then run the mascerator to pump antifreeze through and open the sea cock after the boat is on land.

My head uses pressurized fresh water to flush. I run anti-freeze thru the water lines and then flush with more anti-freeze to make sure it goes all thru the head. Before going to the lift I pump out the holding tank and rinse it thoroughly getting as much water out of the tank as possible. I then pour a gallon of anti-freeze into the holding tank and another gallon into the head so that the macerator is immersed in anti-freeze. Seems to work for me.

Just don't forget to run the macerator for a SHORT time after haulout to get anti-freeze thru the macerator and seacock.

It usually takes about 3-4 gallons of the pink stuff before I see it being discharged.
