The much discussed Guest wireless remote spotlight that uses $40.00 bulbs has a bad habit of turning itself on while I am cruising. This will cause me to purchase more $40.00 bulbs if left unfixed.
Guest tech help said to reprogram the transmitter (the remote control) to another frequency because the problem is that something else electronic on the boat is turning it on. RF interference they said. You normally do this if it is turning on someone down the dock's spotlight when you turn yours on. Instructions on reprograming are in the owner's book.
Does that make sense? It seems to me that the receiver (on the spotlight) is the problem not the transmitter (the remote). If the transmitter is reprogrammed to send out a different frequency how is that going to stop the receiver from activating the spotlight when the interferring electronic device (say the VHF) is sending out a signal?
