Yikes, another hurricane...

This is the ONLY time I'm glad we don't have a boat. I feel for you all. With only our house to worry about I'd probably freak out if we had anymore. Stay safe y'all!

8:45pm 8/26/11 NWS Marine Update:

...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDE...
A STORM SURGE OF 1 TO 3 FEET IS EXPECTED SATURDAY AND SATURDAY
NIGHT. THIS COULD RESULT IN MINOR COASTAL FLOODING AT THE TIME OF
HIGH TIDE. STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS SUNDAY WILL RESULT IN BLOWOUT
CONDITIONS.

This ain't Isabel. That storm came "up" the west side of the Bay. This bitch is far to the east.

At least I'll be praying for that as I'm on the boat riding it out tomorrow and Sunday.

You may want to turn the power off on your boat as well as disconnect the cords, a power surge may be likely in this kind of weather. I will be going dark (no power) on the boat tommorow. My Marina, plans on cutting the power to the marina tommorow as well.

High tide just passed for the evening and it looks more like a low tide. There's going to be a MAJOR blow-out of the Bay with this storm. Just the opposite of Isabel. This is more like a winter storm than a hurricane as far is I'm concerned boat-wise.

Time for dinner. I guess there's too much rain to use the grill on the stern. I'll use the microwave instead :-)

Thanks for the update, Kurt. Be careful out there. Stay inside. If you do go out, where a life jacket and have your wife watch you.

High tide in Still Pond was so low that my neighbor spoted my MIA enging cover about 100 yards out from the dock, in the channel! He went out on his jetski and brought it back to dry land!! Thank you, Justin..... and Irene!!

Hehehehe! That's awesome, Mike! The positives from a storm.

TENACITY - thanks for the positive thoughts. We're so tucked in where we are off Rock Creek that I've been out and about all day without worries. We've been through a lot worse in FL and the Bahamas. This little thing ain't much.

Mike - we'll be up to see you in SP before long.

It would appear that hauling the boat was a waste of money, and for that I am very glad. So much better than waking to devestation. Maybe I'll go wash/wax the hull sides while the boat is on the hard...

I slept like a baby last night on the boat. The worst damage I have is a soaked cockpit carpet. I'd lay it on the pier to dry, but then I'd have to cross the Bay to find it.

With luck, we're heading out for the week tomorrow. I wonder how much crap will wash down from the Conowingo dam?
