I have a Formula 40PC. My water pump was cycling a few seconds every minute. Now it almost does not shut off. Of course I
think I have a leak in the system? I cannot find any water in a bilge or anywhere. I started disconnecting water pipes from the
main manifold right after the pump. When I capped the pipes runnig aft. the pump shut off. The only things aft are my transom
shower, a small sink and hot water heater. I have not seen any water in the bilge area. Could it be possible that the hot water heater coil
(the coil that heats the water from the engine) leaks? When it leaks it goes out the exhaust? I'm going to try and bypass the water heater
to see if that is the issue. If I can reach it? Your thoughts?

Had a similar problem. Turned out is was the small filter just before the pump. Wouldn't seal, so nothing leaked but it was sucking air and couldn't shut the pump off.

Check the transom shower first. they always have a tendency to leak.

Thank you both for your suggestions. Golfman got me thinking about it sucking air. The only fittings that are not "shark bite"
are around the pump and filter. I took them apart, put new teflon tape on the threads. That did it. It was sucking air.
Thank you Golfman25

Another common cause of cycling with diaphragm pumps is debris getting into the valves inside the pump. In case it happens again

Your welcome. I spent $150 on a new pump and when that didn’t work, $10 on the new filter. 😀

Glad it is resolved, I too had the "sucking air" issue, drove me crazy!
