Water coming from super lubes

I have a load rite trailer with dual torsion axels on it. It has the super lube grease fittings. We always have our mechanic summarize and winterize our boat. Part of this is greasing the axels. Pretty sure he just pulls the rubber cab off and puts grease on the fitting.

Our first trip out this season was yesterday, and I noticed water dripping from the rubber cap that houses the grease fittings. It only happened on one tire (dual axel trailer). I assume this is a problem? I’ve never noticed it before. It wasn’t a lot of water… but enough to leave a decent sized drip mark down the tire and a few extra drops after we noticed.

What should I be doing, or checking? Pop the rubber cap off and re-grease it? Check anything else?

Thanks!

I seriously doubt you've got an axle problem now, but advise you add a tad more grease.
What I strongly suspect is that your cap has a leak and should be replaced.
Amazon very well has them for you.

That’s kind of what I was thinking but never had this problem. Anything should be looking for when I pop the cap off?

(Also I’ve been a member long before 2021…. I’ve been around I’m pretty sure since we got our boat in like 2010)

If your grease is waterproof (recommended) you should be golden.
If, which I doubt, you see most all of the grease washed out, you MIGHT be in trouble and need to replace the bearings, but, as said, I really do not think one dunking could possibly do that.

We are pretty observant and would have noticed if it was an issue in the past. So likely this is the first time it’s been an issue. So hopefully no damage done (and also fresh water, not salt water.

I’ll buy a new cap and swap it out

One other thing you might inspect is the inside of the hub to see if there's any sign of leakage. There's a possibility that too much grease may have been applied causing the inside seal to leak. (not related to the water drip)

A little water in there will not hurt anything. That is what the grease is for. Put a new cap on it .
