I see that the '08s are available with a color band in the hull, interesting.
The two-tone upholstery may take some time for me.
What else is new for '08?

I don't know why they continue designing those big windows on the hull and not inside the rail so they are protected. Over the past two years I have seen three of them cracked or broken in accidents that would have only scratched the gelcoat. I also do not think these boats are attractive.

I'm not a fan of the color band hulls (well, these shown here)....maybe a lighter/more neutral color might look better...I've got a '99 350 Mariner...and I just don't see it looking any better with a band. FWIW, I've got black canvas and black/gold striping...it looks really nice....to me.

Anytime you have a dark band or hull especially colors like black, blue or red you know if you get it scratched it's going to be hell to try & match it. It also shows every water spot. Lots more work & coat to keep looking good.

I work for a Carver dealer near Cleveland. The color will be available in 3 different "coverages". First is the kingplank shown in these shots. Second will be "half hull" with the line about midway between the king plank and bottom paint, and third will be full hull, which puts the line an equal distance above the boot stripe and the stripe is above the water line. All of the striping is painted and not gelcoat and is available in dark blue and "Carver" blue which is the lighter color here.

Ram - I think that coverages 2 & 3 will look better. I think a navy hull is an awesome sight to behold...well, as long as someone else is cleaning it!!

Searay has that same ugly interior colors, WTF is up with that, are these interior designers doing drugs?
As far as the boat being ugly, I have too agree, but am not opposed to it. These "ugly" boats have used the max space and therefore have more living space. I like traditional looking boats, but the boats (same size) that have the fuglys are more practical for living space. So as always there is a trade off, but there is no excuse for the ugly interiors IMHO.

And.. the Women Love them... at least most women I know including the most important one in my life. :)

I do like the kingplank paint as shown in these shots. RamSport... will you have one of these at the show??

Yes Joe...we'll have a 2008 43 SS and a 2008 36SS. I believe both will have the kingplank paint. Our 36 Mariner will be a 2007 model sans paint. The 59 Marquis is a 2007 also...no painted hull there either

Anyone ever see the 'practical mariners book of knowledge' under the letter h - as the book is alphabetically arranged - and specifically hull color. the 'wisdom' is - hull color: any color you want as long as its white. When I look at some sea rays, cruisers, and other brands - more time than not the blue, maroon, green, or what ever color they cook up looks cheap.

When I think about cars made in colors other than black, white, silver or red, or yachts made in any color other than white - I think - hmmm cool now - maybe not so cool when I go to sell her in 3/5/8 yrs. I'm with the gents on the forum - matching colors when things go wrong, and/or keeping them clean can be an issue. I guess, more than anything, I am a traditionalist. It took me a long time to change from being fascinated with the 504 to the 506 - but then again, Carver does do a killer job with space, and the 506 has a lot to offer.

Along these thoughts - though - unless the 'powerhouse from pulaski' does something far more impressive than the pics in this thread - my next yacht will not be a Carver. I'm not sure that I - or any member of my family - like where they are going.

Curious if anyone can offer solid, unbiased comments on the 59 or 65 Marquis?

Safe cruising as we come up on a real busy weekend...Into the Mystic...BMore MD

I work for the full line Carver Group dealer in Cleveland, and the Marquis products are just fantastic. Quality built beautifully appointed yachts that really measure up to most that Europe has to offer. Now...remember, the hull painting on the Carvers and Marquis' are optional, but I believe most will opt for one of the 3 choices. Carver is starting a redo of their product line, but are starting at the smaller end of the line-up first. That's all I can say :-). 36 will no longer be the smallest Carver

Cool, thanks - appreciate the feed back....looking forward to seeing whats in store. I guess like a lot of things - we all resist change a bit - some things may stick, and some things may not - but Carver has proven for a long time to deliver a pretty solid product for the money. As someone who lives to cruise and more so - be on the hook crabbing, bird watching, etc - we had to make a few changes to support that life style, as a lot of 506/530/570 owners never leave the slip. I've yet to really dig into the meat and potatoes of the 59 and 65. Now that I finally have Into the Mystic where I want her, I should just be happy and spend my time on the water - but part of us being 'guys with boats' is the search for the next 'lady' in our lives! thanks again -

Ram.
If you have their ear, tell them the interior colors wants one to puke. Soft is nice and soothing, WTF they had with the colors on the sofa and the interior seating just turns me off(Sea Ray did the same) I had a big problem with buying a carver in 2004, they had that mustard color on the bridge, see that has changed and that is good.

IMHO, Carver is a good boat, but I think Meridian is beating the crap out of them in every aspect. If I wan a Fugly boat, Meridian does it better at less cost. Again just my humble opinion.

Carver spends alot on "designers" for their interior fabrics. They echo what is going on in the housing decorating market. Believe me, they will change if they see it isn't working. Also, Carver will do semi custom things for you...as in, in 2004, they would have made an all white dash if you wanted. And I'm sure if you don't like the two tone seating, they will do it all in one color. Carver is not so stuck on the way they do things that they won't bend here and there. I've seen them do it many many times

The boat is nice. The hull color would be beter if navy blue stripped. i think the inside colors are hideous.

That is the Navy Blue...the Carver Blue is more of a metallic greyish color. Our '08's for the boat show will have Navy accent stripes

As Ram has said, Carver is simply echoing the designer fads of the times - EVERYBODY else has a two tone hull option, so they had to do it too...

From a historical perspective, this would be the first time Carver has used a different colored "kingplank" since the all-wood "70" series boats disappeared back in the early 1970s. They used to have a contrasting top plank color when they built their lapstrake models. So it just goes to show you how fads and fashions come full circle. What's next? A new generation of 8 track tape players :) ??????

all of the late 80's era Montegos and Santegos had colored kingplanks...mine is dark blue, and there was a plum option. They stopped doing it in 1991, and it is now back
