That's why they raised the cruise permit fees. They want you on the ferry with their Asian partners.

As far as the failure, "it's da Bahamas mon" but at least they caught this one before it crashed like Sky Bahamas.
 
Where the heck are they going to dock that beast?

I wonder if it will last longer than the casino at Lucaya did.

Bob they just don't get it. All of the major developments in the Bahamas have failed.
 
Years ago, Bimini was a great place to go and fish and snorkal and enjoy the ruff little Island,its people and its music, A Jewel in the Sea.
THEN
Chalks crashes,(11 Islanders killed)
The Complete Angler burns down,
Condos built on the Island (Green Grass and all)
and now A FAST BOAT TO BIMINI.
Makes me want to cry.

Hey guys, we're over here in Bimini for a few days. The monster high speed cat is sitting offshore right now. They ferry the passengers off the boat to Alice Town and Bimini Bay resort on a couple of smaller 70 ft sized cats. They just anchor the big boat offshore all day long. The customs and immigration go out to the big boat to clear all of the passengers. I like to see that, 700 passengers clearing customs Bahamas style!

(A few years ago here in Bimini we were clearing in and in the middle the woman said Ill be right back. Half hour later she returns, took lunch break half way through clearing us. Puts a new meaning to island time.) The weather has been great the last few days, finally 2 ft seas, its been awhile.
 
The big one is not a cat... The cat is a former ferry from the baleares island I believed, blue hulled and white. The new boat is like mini cruise ship, red hulled, big funnel. Saw it last night docked at the port of Miami.

I wonder how using tenders, no matter how big, is going to work in winter with the Northerly swell :)
 
Yeah, it is not a cat. We were just at the beach looking at a distance thinking it is not a cat. I guess I was thinking of the one I see docked near Ft Lauderdale. Two days in a row, it just sits there all day maybe half a mile offshore with smoke coming out its stacks, I guess they have a lot of generator needs.

I have to say, the water here is particularly nice this year, my daughter thinks its as clear as the Exumas this year.

Few years ago, different Ferry,choppy seas.
They tried getting passengers to jump down into the tenders.[:-scared] tried it from both sides of the Ferry. No one jumped, boat returned to miami.
