http://www.lohud.com/article/20090410/NEWS03/904100367/1019/NEWS03 NYACK: Two men were rescued from the Hudson River after their 18-foot fishing boat capsized a quarter-mile from the Nyack shore yesterday. The men were bobbing in the water south of the Tappan Zee Bridge when another boat passing by stopped to help them, authorities said. By the time fire departments arrived around 6 p.m., the men had been pulled from the water, Nyack Fire Chief Jim Scully said. Scully said they were uninjured. At least one of the men is a Nyack resident, he said. Authorities did not release their names. The fishing boat, which had turned over, was towed from the water back to Nyack Marina. Authorities did not know what caused the boat to capsize. "It was windy and a little choppy out, but we couldn't say for sure," Scully said. The Nyack, Tarrytown and Piermont fire departments, along with the Rockland County Sheriff's Marine Unit, responded to the incident.

Wow, the water is too darn cold for a swim. They were pretty lucky another boater got to them fast. I wonder did they have on a PFD?

Not sure about the PFD's but I can confirm the water at Stony Point Last weekend was roughly 45 degrees. Damn cold for a swim is right!

My kids were out on our CC yesterday, the water was pretty calm, but it is still below 50 degrees.

With cheap fuel and burned out minds we may see an uptick on the river this year. Isn't this just a wee bit early for stripers or shad? Is there anything else running down there like perhaps blues?

...and seals.

Dan, this is prime striper fishing time.

Ok, I must have been thinking about Kingston where it's just starting to come around.

It takes a while longer for them to get up to Kingston
