... And you can still sail these yachts out of Newport. Sail lasts about 2 or 3 hours. There's a handful of these yachts there, and you can do team races against other AC yachts.
 
I just did this in Newport last week we sailed on Intrepid , a former America's Cup champ we have done it 2 years in a row it is a great experience it is a 2 hour sail

This is why I love Newport and why I prefer being on a mooring instead of jammed in a crowded marina. You get 12 meters and other classic sailing by all day long.

It makes it difficult to do any work on the boat though :)
 
I used to race 12meter boats. Mine was a bit smaller. A scale model of the Courageous. We had regular races. Big boat rules.
