1982 270 OEC? outdrives ? anygood

looked at a 1982 4.3 v6 with i think were o ec outdrives
they were over the top edge of the swin platform Not good.
but had a big rubber bellow? on the transon surrounding the outdrive
owner said has new lift motors

i dont like the cut outs in the swin platform but i guess they
go up almost 90 deg.
a boat mechanic said stay away from them ??
any get a 270 w/ merc's

boat has 1000 hours but has been out of the water alot

oh they are twins but a 1982 is that the last year of these
outdrives

can a swim platform aftermkt fit with some lift up drop ins

My '82 260 had a single OMC 800 Stringer outdrive with a 350 GM (260HP). I never had any trouble with it and it wasn't that hard to work on. That being said, parts are getting harder to find for them and if you aren't mechanically inclined, finding somebody to work on them can be difficult. If you can find a boat with Mercs, parts and service are alot easier to obtain. Really depends on the deal and your capabilities.
 
i dont like the cut outs in the swim platform forthe i/o outdrive as it tilts up

but thet do look big and meaty
looks like ill past on that boat
