Anyone know where I can get new(er) nameplates for my 86 Mariner 32' ? or a restorer?

Those might be hard to find... You could check with a place in Wisconsin called Kendor Marine. They might be able to track something down for you. (Google them for the site)

eBay??? I've seen nameplates listed there from time to time - just type in "Carver Boat" in the main search screen and see what you get. There was another place that sells surplus marine stuff and I forgot the name - it could be what Craig referred to or maybe Kenny or someone else can help...

Are you talking about the carver nameplates that go on the weatherboards? I tried sourcing them last year with no luck. Mine were pretty pitted and the black in the textured space around the letters was worn/chipped/looked terrible. I bought a pint of bootstripe paint, wire wheeled the black off and buffed out the letters. Then I painted the texture part with 3 coats of gloss black. Came out pretty good.

Thats the kind of patience the auto restoration crowd has been doing for years :) Good work!
