1989 38' Sea Ray MotorYacht

I've been looking at a 38' 1989 Sea Ray AftCabin. Merc 340HP inboards and a Merc Generator. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this style Sea Ray. How does it run with gas power. Also, A merc generator, I didn't know merc made generators, are these dependable.

I've run that boat with gas engines, and it's very slow. It's been a few years, but as I recall it would cruise about 15MPH at 3,000 and maybe 17MPH at 3,500 while netting less than .5 MPG. Note MPH, not knots.

The Quicksilver generator was made by Generac, and I've know people who have them and have had a few problems. Sorry I can't be more specific as it's been 10 years or better since I ran a 380AC.

Other than being slow, the layout is great and they're good looking boats, especially if it has the aft hardtop and arch option.
