I recently bought a 1998 330 Sundancer and noticed during survey that it is missing one of the covers over the underwater exhaust (Port Side). What is the purpose of this cover? looks like the shape of a bullet... Do I need to replace it immediately? Looks like previous owner has been running without it...

Not sure what you mean by cover......but if its the exhaust tube extenshion...it needs to be replaced. Its purpose is to extend the exhaust past the prop.....so the exhaust doesn't airate the prop.

Thanks! Thats the part. It screws on over the hole and it must extend the exhaust past the props, like you said. Makes sense...

Good Luck with your 330DA..... We had a 1995 330DA....there a great boat.

I'm curious -- what did the surveyor say?

I have a '97 330DA - 7.4l MEI. Great boat!

The surveyor didn't know what its purpose was, but just recommended I replace it soon. He said its there for a reason...

I have a "98 330 DA. 7.4 w/ velvet drive v drives. There are no extensions on my underwater exhausts and boat runs great. Have had boat for 3 years and have put over 200 hrs on it. When boat was surveyed, nothing was mentioned about extensions,
