I've been using a handheld on the flybridge, but I would like to add a fixed, dash mounted VHF to use up there. Is it advisable or possible to hook the upper VHF to the same antennae that my lower station VHF is hooked to?
The other thing I'm considering is adding a Ram mike to my existing lower station Standard Horizon to use up top in lieu of an additional VHF. Does anyone have any experience using the Ram mike remote set-up? I guess the advantage would be 1 VHF, 1 antennae. Then, if the main VHF goes out I stll have the handheld. Opinions?
