My center console boat motor is testing my patience!
Thursday, I replaced the starter. To do this, I removed the bottom of the cowling. Once done, I noticed a fuel leak. In order to attack that, I tried turning the motor so it is easier to work on.
The motor turns one way (to push the boat starboard) but does NOT turn to port! There seems to be a hard-stop in the steering mechanism. As if it is hitting a metal bolt. If there were cables, wires, hoses in the way, I would expect a soft stop.
I removed the steering cable linkage and eliminated the cable and helm.
I removed the bottom of the cowling which I had to do to pull the starter, thinking I installed that wrong...no luck.
Any ideas? Is there an adjustable stop bolt?
