This might be unique to the factory installation
on my boat, but I just finished replacing the 2 inch main fuel hose (USCG Marine Approved)from the deck fitting to the starboard tank.
When installed at the factory this hose run had a low spot that was lower than the top tank inlet(too much hose). After 6 seasons with fuel and engine additives sitting in this low spot at all times the hose casing itself gave way (about 12 inches long)
At our final fuel up last season we ended up dumping about 2-3 gallon of raw fuel into the engine room.....fortunately the breech was above a boxed section for the underwater exhaust and the fuel was pretty much contained there.......thankfully all of the spark arrestors were working as we had been out on the lake for about 5 hours !!
BTW - removing and installing the new hose was a real PITA - Carver never intended it to be serviced.
and thanks to Les for the fast replacement service on my order.
Like I said this may have been unique to my installation but it might be worth checking on other boats.
