I have an offer in on a 2003 Sea Ray 360. It appears to be a great boat, and most importantly, my wife likes it!! Can anyone give me any advice on the good and the bad with this model? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks. David.

Hi David,

Should be plenty of power, our previous 340 was amazing w/8.1 horizons, got up on plane like a runabout with a big block, though WOT was about 61GPH and best cruise was only .07 mpg...Did not matter to us being inland, as we usually go 10 miles out and hang on the hook for the day..

I know we've been on a 360 over the years, just can not remember the layout...

Not sure if this is a first boat, a bigger boat or what, but some must haves on our previous express cruisers were (our needs, certainly not yours perhaps)...

1. Centerline Master
2. Seperate shower
3. Camper back (not slant back)
4. Genset
5. Serviceability

In a comparable look, our 3700 Maxum we owned last season, addressed all these issues...

Other than that, that's about it, though I've not been a fan of the engine room space on SR's, (we've owned 5) the trade is a bigger cabin, which we appreciated greatly.

Keep us posted on how you come out, it is a buyers market right now, though not a single dealer/broker will admit it.

If you're not trading, that gives you even more buying power!

Good luck!
Lou

Thanks Lou, great feedback. It is a first boat in this class, no tradein, so we are being patient to get our deal...David

A friend has one. 32GPH at cruise at 22Kts. Prop pockets are not all they are cracked up to be. At 6'4", the end of the centerline cuts me at the knees. Nice headroom. Pretty interior. Good size head. Stable at anchor. To me, the 37 Maxum has more to offer.

My $0.02

David,

Had an 2004 and really liked it. I thought the 8.1s werea bit thirsty, but nothing out of the ordinary.

We ran the snots out of it for a couple of years in all sorts of rough stuff, it never let us down, nothing broke, nothing failed and the resale was great.

The 'beam me up scotty' shower was a challnge to clean, but it worked well.

I was just wondering if you are doing this deal through SS3 MM. Reason I ask is the wife and I looked at one of these over the summer but pulled the plug when we felt the deal was not right. I spoke to the guys over at T Bay this weekend and they said theirs had been moved off the used for sale list.
If this is the same boat, they have been sitting on this and many others like it for a while now. I would sit tight and wait for your best deal. Hell these guys dropped the price almost 30K when they though they were losing me. All that did was make me wonder how much margin is really in these things.
At that price point there are others to pick from. Formula and Cruisers both readily come to mind.
Good Luck

Btw. we loved the 360, just not at the numbers that they had in mind.

Hi all, sorry for the slow response as I've been travelling on business in Europe the past couple of weeks...

But 'aye aye' seems like I'm a captain now... we closed the deal on the 360 last week and are very happy (especially my wife!! and my 3 boys!!!). The dealer here in the Pacific NW has been v good to deal with and has made sure that all the small concerns get dealt with.

We're excited to be boaters even though the weather is turning rainy now and we need to store it for the winter.

Considering shrinkwrapping it until spring, but I hear the key is to ensure its well ventilated if in fact its wrapped.

Love the responsiveness of the boat and the many excellent design features. Have much to learn though, I'm sure it will take some time next year to thoroughly figure everything out.

Thanks to all for your responses!

David
