Okay, here it is. These are some possible destinations we're planning.
Sag Hbr.
Three Mi. Hbr.
Montauk
Greenport
Block Is.
Stonington
Mystic
Amer. Wharf (Norwich)
Essex Is.
Hamburg cove

Anyone want to give insight, info or opinions?

Have a great time. I am looking at the same trips. Well all except Stonington and Essex

Good thread. Gotta give some supporting info on your family. Kids, activities looking for, partier ?
I know we have three boys, 17, 14 and 12. Always need to be active, fishing, kneeboarding, scuba, beaches, social activities a must, not into bars. We always anchor.

The Admirial's new favorite place is Montauk. She loves the sandy south facing beaches. TMH and Sag are always good destinations. Of course we are at Hamburg Cove quite a bit - still haven't caught up with Vista. Now I am starting to get the itch...

I really got the icth. Cant wait to launch. I am really looking forward to Block again. May stay a week this year. If you are in the cove I am usually monitoring channel 5 on the vhf. Just look or call for Dock Oars

TJM:
We're empty nesters now (both boys in college and live/work in Boston). So we don't need alot of "attractions". We're not into the bar scene that much anymore(except maybe when the restaurant is too crowded) and our "partying days" have come and gone. We like places where we can go and kick back with good friends, good food, and good wine! We would prefer watching a sunset in a peaceful place. Maybe Block during the week, but weekend/holidays there would not be for us. Anyone else feel the same as us?

Spike: do you stay at marina in Montauk or anchor/mooring?

We've stayed at a few: Montauk Yacht Club, Star Island Marina, Gone Fishing Marina, and Montauk Marine Basin. Each are different, but here is the bottom line.

MYC - great place, shuttle bus, pool, bar, restaurant, most expensive place to stay.

Star - pool, bar, shuttle, shark tourney.

Gone Fishing - no pool, good restaurant/bar, a true fishing marina, great people, no direct access to the action on the other side, least expensive. Good place to bring a bike.

MMB - fishing marina, can walk to Gossman's Dock/restaurants, no pool, cab to town (or walk to MYC and pretend you are a guest there), reasonable cost.

Sometimes we take our lawn chairs to the beach. Sometimes we take our bikes and go to the lighthouse and into town. Cool bar near the beach, sometimes they have music - don't recall the name. Plenty of good restaurants. Never stayed on the hook - believe it can be shallow in the pond.

Boats anchor in the pond, however, I've seen it get pretty nasty in there.
