This year Saturday May 26th and Sunday May 27th 10am to 3pm both days.

The Blue Angels are confirmed (so they say) as well as the Candian Forces Snowbirds

I have never been there and hear they put on a great show.

I have read previous years posts about the show but since its coming up I figured I could ask some questions.

Where is the better view? Zachs bay or outside?

I have read about the Friday before is good to watch the practice runs??

Anyone have any cool pics from previous years shows??

I've been going to Zachs Bay to watch the show for years. The bay gets a little crowded but just wait an hour after the show before trying to leave for the heavy traffic to thin and your fine. The outside question I can't answer but I can say that some years we've been fogged in on the inside so I guess outside would be weather dependent. The Friday show is a full show but I don't think it's simulcast on the radio like the Saturday and Sunday shows. It's a great day on the water with friends and fellow boaters just be careful of low tide because Zachs can be tricky, used the west entrance and go straight in until you get more than half way. I try to stay to the west end since it seems like the show is concentrated to that end but with binoculars you'll have plenty to see.

I have gone before and it's cool.
I was there last time in like 2005 so looking at my pics the quality is piss poor compared to camera's of today!
Zach's is a zoo.
If it's calm and you can get outside, go outside.

If you go to Zach's go Friday and stay overnight to get a decent spot.

Ok as you can see I forgot how to post pictures. I have a ton of the Blue Angels. How do I post from photo bucket to here.

Dave these photos all taken from Zachs. As for the rest of the show yes you can see it ok but not great. But the Blue Angels do a ton of flyovers and turns over Zachs. Not sure if they do it on purpose for all the boats but It is worth it for that in my opinion. I usually go all 3 days. Fri Sat and Sun.

those pics are way cooler than mine!
Cameras have come a long way.
I think mine were like 1MP and no where near that zoom!
My iphone takes better pics now than my first digital.
Plus first digital was size of a brick!

The show is fantastic, but Zachs Bay is a zoo. I've gone early on Saturday mornings and had my choice of good spots. Be there before 9:00 AM and you should be good, but later than that and you will be hunting for a clear spot. Saturday is a little better than Sunday. If you go, make sure to stay until after the crowd dies down. Lots of drunks pulling out of there all at once when the show ends. Real easy to have a problem.
Keep a close eye on your anchor line while you're there. Not impossible for some drunken or clueless boater to run it over on you.

Site has the F-22 listed as well... that's a big combo with the Angels and SnowBirds.

I'll be heading down one of the day's not sure yet. I've arrived by 8:30am and gotten good anchorage last time.

If we were to go, which day is better, or should we think about staying over. If staying over, where?

Does the USCG clear a certain area off Jones Beach in the Atlantic (like due south of the water tower) during the show or can you pretty much drift wherever you like?

They'll close off water. They do regardless of where the performance is for safety purposes.

I haven't seen them since the mid 80's when they first transitioned to the F/A-18. I had duty the Friday before the Sat/Sun shows.

Friday was not just a practice run, it was actually a dress rehearsal and VIP show. Unless something's changed, you'll avoid a lot of conjestion if you can make it Friday.

Saturday is better than Sunday. Zach's Bay is about the best place to see it by boat unless you want to drift in the ocean. But planning on the ocean could backfire on you if it is real choppy out there that day.

Last I was at the show in the Atlantic 2003 or 2004
The answer was yes
