Has anyone had a problems with the alignment of head door on the 2400 bowrider? The latch doesn't line up properly.
Thanks,
Monroe

The latch for the head door is certainly not the strongest piece of hardware I've ever seen. However, I've had no problems to date with the alignment on mine.

If the head door closes properly, but the latch doesn't line up. I would check for the latch being moved out of position . Regal put only one cam type latch on the 2004 year model of the 2400. I had to add another one down near the bottom of the door. Anytime we hit a wave or wake ,hard, the door would flex enough to bang. I was worried about it eventualy cracking the door.
If it just slid out of alignment, I would move it back and put a dab of 4200 behind it to keep it from moving again.

Bill,
What kind of latch did you add to the door.
Thanks,
Monroe

I added the same style as the one Regal used.
I can take pix if you want.

I have another style, that I was going to use. Its a strechy rubber version of the Regal latch. If adding the 2nd latch hadn't worked well, I was going to replace the origional latch with this rubber "cam" latch. I think that the extra pull would help.
I can take pix of it if you want to see another style latch.

I'd be interested to know if anyone has this issue still and what they have done. I have an 06 Regal 2400 and whilst the door does not seemed to have moved the latch (which is a plastic item) has broken. Has anyone replaced with anything better? Found a stainless steel item? Thanks

JMT -
How satisfied have you been with the quality of your boat. This was my first boat and I have had many issues with it.

Hi Monroe,

Mostly I think it is a very high quality craft - the materials used, the thought behind the design and the way it is put together BUT, there are a few niggly things that have been annoying - the head door latch is plastic and has broken, the pieces of board that the front filler cushions go on were not set up properly so that after first time use I have had o unscrew a part and put on in a different place, would be nice if it came with short Bimini pols for storage, catch on inside oh head door is in wrong place and again will need unscrewing and moving, no of studs on tonneau and screen don't match.....

Having said that, I think it is a class above most makes, is brilliant in terms of structure, how it goes, handles etc., just let down by a few "finishing" issues.

JMT,
I like the design and quality of the boat.
I have had a list of problems and I am trying to figure out if the problem is with Regal or maybe the dealer didn't prep the boat properly, or something else.
Last year the following was broken from day one, the ignition switch and the shift/throttle cable had to be replaced and one of the risers was defective. This year the starter and trim pump needed to be replaced.I have gotten different opinions as to normal first year problems or not, so far the rest of my second season has been trouble free, I hope that continues.

Monroe,

Hopefully theose were "delivery problems " and now sorted you will be ok.

All the best.

Defective riser? Ouch, did you get water in the engine? Merc or Volvo?

My 2400 has never seen salt water, has only 60 hours on it, and still I worry about the risers. Maybe I've read too many threads about leaky risers and manifolds :)

Sorry to hear about your issues. Hopefully they're all in the past.
