Hi!,

I just bought my first boat(1990 VIP Valiant 19'). Before buying the boat I had a compression test done and listened to it run. I also checked the net for known issues (only thing I found is that the OMC cobra gears have issues). However, I never stopped to look at the **#$#** oil. The boat runs great with no smoke, never dies, starts on first or second turn of key. However, right after I started it up on the lake and took it out I stopped and checked the oil to make sure it wasn't using oil (oil pressure is seems real strong on this boat). And low and behold I saw the very same sight that brought the demise of my '88 Toyota supra, milky oil. Back then it was due to a Blown head gasket, but in this case I really don't think thats the issue. The boat runs really really well in every aspect. I was able to get it to 39mph w/3 adults aboard on the factory prop, not to mention wind in our face and choppy ass lake water (motor was turning 5000 rpm according to factory tach). Anyhow, my question is a)How do I change the oil (I see where to add, and see the dipstick but I don't see a drain). And b) What causes this and how do I fix it? Also, the oil filter on the boat is Delco PF1218 which seems to be a diesel filter, it seems to fit fine but does this sound like the right filter?

Thank You,
Casey
