I have the original integrated radio, dual tape deck all in one configuration (Maxxima I think?).

There is a small bar at the bottom that screws in and keep the unit in place. I removed the bar but could only pull the unit out so far (not far enough to see what was holding it back).

Any ideas on how to get this unit out without damaging something?

Perhaps the wiring is keeping you from pulling the unit out more.

I removed mine a few years back and if I remember had to remove slider and some wooden trim (the aft panel) just looked at it and their are 2 plates one on each side with a loop on top those loops must be screwed to the boat
(the plates are screwed to all the stereo parts and come out in one piece.

I tried for days trying to get the radio out and didn't get anywhere. I ended up replacing faulty speakers and installing a deck on the flybridge. Now we just plug an Ipod into the mike outlet on the cabin stereo tape deck, put in an old tape, press record and pause and voila, tunes. We also plug a laptop through the same jack for even more tunes.
