Thanks, I will keep that in mind. I don't understand why they put 3 blade with the mercruiser and 4 blade with the crusader with only 20 total HP difference.

I could be totally wrong, but I think for the most part, cost of the props and second they used those props on the mariner as well if not mistaken.

Jim, I googled The Thousand Islands and was pretty amazed at what it is. Be safe out there and have a great time bringing that Montego back.
 
On the trip now. We are docked for the night in Fulton and moving on in the AM. Had some interesting 4-6'ers getting here but we are enjoying some scotch to soothe our battle woundes.

Open Lake Marine forecast for Lake Erie is going to be NASTY starting tonight, building to 12-13 footers by Monday with GALE FORCE 40knot winds. If you are not home you may want to consider tucking in somewhere for a couple of days until this ugliness blows through. We're on the Western end of the lake and I expect the water levels may drop significantly at the dock well.

Here is the forecast for the week...

Today: SSW wind 23 to 26 kt becoming WSW 29 to 32 kt in the morning. Showers and thunderstorms likely before noon, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Seas 2 ft building to 10 ft.

Tonight: WSW wind 26 to 31 kt, with gusts as high as 38 kt. Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Seas 12 to 13 ft.

Tuesday: W wind 28 to 33 kt becoming NW 23 to 28 kt in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 41 kt. Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Seas 14 ft subsiding to 9 ft.

Tuesday Night: WNW wind 19 to 22 kt. Showers likely. Seas around 7 ft.

Wednesday: NW wind 17 to 19 kt. A chance of showers. Seas 6 to 7 ft.

Wednesday Night: NNW wind 15 to 18 kt decreasing to 9 to 12 kt after midnight. A slight chance of showers. Seas 5 ft subsiding to 3 ft.

Thursday: NW wind 7 to 9 kt. Mostly sunny. Seas 1 to 2 ft.

Thursday Night: N wind 6 to 8 kt becoming ESE after midnight. Partly cloudy. Seas around 1 ft.

I should probably statr a new thread!

We made it to Spencerport last night. The 10 MPH speedlimit is not good for time or fuel economy, but we are in no hurry due to the weather. We are on our way towards Buffalo but will not make it that far today.

Everything is going great so far. Only issues have been a mild low speed vibration (props or shafts) and that the trim tabs keep blowing the breaker and I can not pinpoint it. Starry Night, any suggestions of areas to check for the trim tabs? The boat handles great and is running incredibly well.

Good morning, Glad to hear your doing well on your trip.

With regards to the trim tabs. When running in auto mode do not try to adjust the trim tabs, for some reason the breaker would trip. I have call Bennett regarding that issue but could never get a straight answer. If I wanted to run and adjust the trim tabs, I would shut down the auto trim tabs first. This will prevent the trim tabs from tripping the breaker.

With respect to the vibration, The shafts were check and straightened, and the props were reconditioned. When I drove the boat up to Albany to get our new boat there was no vibration. The shaft coupling were brand new and the PYI PSS dripless shaft seals were new. They basically had 8 hours on them when we traded her in. If you have any other question let me know.

Thanks for all the advice and information. We left Amherst, NY today and made it to Dunkirk, NY. We had solid 4-6'ers and an 8'er in there to make it intersting. Thankfully we were taking them on the stbd bow for most of that. This was yet another good test of the vessel and she is performing very well. After we got everything back to its proper place in the boat, we were good to go and got dinner.

Should be back by late tomorrow or sometime Friday of the lake is noce to us. If not, maybe later in the weekend.

Yes, we made it home late Thursday evening. Sorry, trying to catch up on everything and have not logged in for a while.

It was a great trip. I spent more time at the helm than I have in my entire boating career and I feel much more comfortable now. I can't wait to get started on my winter projects for the boat but think I will leave it in for a few more weeks so I can enjoy it even more.
