I have a 2001 356 carver like to know how to remove the couch on the port side of the salon out. Seems like it is bolted down but I have a hard time believing that.I do not want to use force and break something.

Put up the recliners and climb under and look at the back legs. There are probably screws through the legs into the floor panels. I heard the from a guy who worked on our boat when it belonged to the previous owner that the couch was screwed down to the floor.

I've never seen Carver attach them to the floor. Maybe a previous owner did it. They have to be movable to get the engine hatches over the port engine up. It's kind of heavy, but should slide away from the wall and then be manageable to lift.

Kenny's right, in fact to add oil you need to lift the couch to get the hatch out. Somebody probably put a screw or two to keep it in place, but it's pretty heavy and in an awkward spot to lift. Try removing the forward hatch and get in the bilge, you will have better leverage to lift. If it still will not move look underneath the other hatches for screws.

Good luck,

Billy K.

I went down again to see if I could move the couch nothing was bolted down I just use a little force and moved the couch without any problems. That what I get for asking my wife and son to do something I should have done it myself, thanks for the help.
