380 Sundancer - 2001/2002/2003

Jim,

Jim - Thanks a lot. I have a pretty good deal in the hopper, but it is a 3 way deal, with the broker getting rid of 2 bigger boats and taking my 310 for practically nothing. I should have put my boat up for sale and probably would have sold it 10 to 15k above what I will get on trade.

Brad - Thanks for the 2003 380da heads up, but unless they want to trade and probably move my boat faster than their 380, I don't want to become a 2 boat owner. Been there, done that, never again!

It is a lot harder finding the right price on the right boat when owning a boat! AAAAHHHHHH!

Rob,

I ran the snots out of a 44 like yours at Merritt Island in December, and I had a blast.
Sea Ray had me running a salom course between the crab floats at full throttle.
Nice boat.

I just ended up with a smoking good deal on an 04 42 with the 450's.
Same hull as yours just a bit older.
Ended up with everything, hardtop, bow and stern thrusters, TNT, teak, glendenning cable masters (2), navigator, cell phone amp, fastback canvas, upgraded stereo, ultimate matteress, ipod dock, etc. Got into it at around 280. Can't complain, I have some TLC to put into it and it needs cockpit air.

The ingestion problem was with the Gen VI 7.4 engine. Merc had changed the valve timing between Gen V & Gen VI, or something like that, which caused the water ingestion. That necessitated redesigning the exhaust system. I do not believe the exhaust system caused any problems with any other engine.

Two boats at my marina, both Sea Rays. A 360 w/ 8.1s and a 400 w/ 3116 Cats. 360 runs 32GPH at cruise ~22Kts. 400 runs 27GPH at WOT ~28Kts. Huge difference when you get to the larger boats and trying to push them with gas. Most say 40' is the break point. I'd say 35.

My 2 cents.
