My 454s running at 3300 rpm are running a little hot, I think. I have a '97 330SD-no genny and three bladed props. The impellers were just changed. Should I be concerned?

What do you consider a little hot ? A 160 thermostat should run around 170+ degrees.

Sounds good to me. I thought I had read that they should run at 165, but that was a while back AND I could be wrong. Thanks.

That is above your cruise by the way as it is probably between 3100 and 3200(at least for me). I replaced my thermostats but I had a sticking problem. If it is a little over it may even be your guages, where do you boat and how long have you had your current manifolds, risers, etc.? need more details, has it changed all of a sudden?

Yes.....could also be the guage.....or even the sending unit.

The best way to test is with a hand held laser radiation tester. Shoot the beam on the riser......and you get a reading. Raytek makes a good one ( MiniTemp ) thats rea$onably priced.

How "hot" and are you raw water or fresh water cooled?????
