Several yrs ago the admiral and I decided that we would not wait until we retire to get a boat and travel around for several yrs. I found that many folks had those plans but when it came time to retire could not do it financially, physically, etc. So my plan began. When our last child graduated HS we would start our journey. 7 yrs and counting. The Plan
We will buy The Boat in 6 yrs
Quit our jobs in 7 yrs ( work for the state the wife is an RN)
Travel for 3 yrs i.e. Keys, Bahamas, etc
Rent our Florida furnished waterfront home to European seasonal tourists (Big market for that in SW florida)
Return after our Journey back to our home get our jobs back. I know it sounds simple but I know there are are many things to keep in mind i.e. health insurance, expenses etc.
Would love to hear from anyone who has done this, thought about it or knows someone who has.
I have many questions.
Type of boat? I continue to waiver between, Trawlers, Cats etc Sail is out
What do I do during Hurricane season?
