OK, tonight it seemed to want to automatically log me on, so I'll try to write again.
I have a 1980 26 Weekender. Not sure how close they were, but Searay kept everything pretty similar. Mine was a little beat up, and I changed things a little. The cover was just marine plywood - although I'll say they used good plywood as it was still in good shape when I got it in 2001. I added a second ply piece on top to cover the hole if the cushion wasn't set in place. Hinged that at the rear so I could check the engine easily. I had removed much of the rear seating on the original Weekender. So, I hinged the entire engine hatch from the front. I should say I still use the original 1980 cushion, which is in great shape.
