'89 460 DA w/ DD 6-92 TAB

We are about to pull the trigger on an 89 460. It has 6-92 TAB Detroits w/ 2000 hours. The engines are the 450 HP models. Anybody know what the fuel consumption at cruise and cruise speed is for this model. I have heard the cruise as low as 22 and high as 26 knots. I am fine with that either way. I have heard the fuel consumption as low as 28GPH total to as high as 30GPH per engine (60GPH total)

I have a 1989 390 with 3208 cats rated at 370 Hp and at 75% running 21 knots fuel burn is 18 gph / at 80% running 23 - 24 knots fuel burn jumps to 24 gph. this with the boat full load. so I would go with your lowwer number. good luck I myself love the older searays you get alot of boat.

What is the weight and beam of the 39? I would be tickled if I could get a cruise of ~30 GPH.
 
David the beam on my 39 is 14" and lol is 41' 10". and when we are traveling there is 4 adults,there clothing for a week and food. my cats top out at 2800 RPM and at 75% ( 2100 rpm )running at 21 knots burning 18 ga. TT. David what is top RPM on 6v92 ?
 
6-92's should be pinned WOT no load at 2500 RPM. Pin at full load at 2300 RPM. Recommended cruise is 2100 RPM w/ full load. The DD is a 2 cycle whereas the Cat is a 4 stroke.
 
Thats why they call them screamom - demons. the D/D 6-71 and 6v92 when used in a truck the driver was told to keep them wound up tight. as you know with a 2 cycle the power cruve is at the high end of the rpm. I still think with the Searay hull your fuel burn should be under 30 gph. as far as the weight of the 39 in all my doc. it only gives the weight with gas engines so my best guess is 23,000 - 24,000 #.
