We are thinking about upgrading the 245 to a Sea Ray 290. The problem is with trailering.

In Texas, the max width is 8'6", which I am fairly certain that most states are the same.

FYI, the Sea Ray 290SD is 9'6".

My question is,

1. Does the law REALLY care about 12"

2. What is involved with getting permits? Do you have to do this EVERYtime you tow? What are the fees? Or, is this a one time fee per year?

Please, dont lecture me about widths and safety, I totally understand this. I just dont want to get some permit and waste money if I dont need to.

Tow vehicle can handle it as well, Ford diesel truck....
