Looking for suggestions on where to install a inverter (and batteries) on a 98 355?

If the inverter is not ignition-rated, it doesn't belong anywhere in the engine room.

Some inverters are combination inverter/chargers, so why not go with that type, and simply put it where your current charger is. Depending on the current (amp) requirements and distance, you might even be able to save a bit of money on not having to run new wiring to the batteries.

Not sure where the batteries and charger are located on the 355. For sure they are not in the same location as my 325.

I am going to be doing the same project this spring. I am looking at installing under the dinette set or below the dinette floor. This will work the best for the panel location. I will be installing a 1000 watt inverter/charger. I would have like to move up to 1800 watt, but the cost is a lot more. i may in the future put in a battery isolator and charge these batteries off the engine alternators. I am using 4 6 volt batteries. let me know how you make out.

Thanks for the feedback. Haven't taken delivery of the boat yet - should close the deal next week. This is one of the first improvements I want to make - so I'm just trying do some research.

If i keep an eye on things, i will be able to run everything, except water heater and stove, but for those i would use the geny anyways. Any high wattage item like the microwave, coffee maker, i will just have to be sure the draw at that time is not too great. This is only a trial run, as for the last 6 years i have only run off batteries at anchor, other than the geny. Just want extra quiet time. I am hoping to get to the boat next week and finish the install.
